If an Army Humvee parachuted down on your lawn, would it belong to you or could the Army take it off your property?

It would still belong to the Army ... and they could go to the local impound lot and pay the fines and fees to get it released.

I don't know about other states ... but in Oregon/Washington, you could have it towed but you couldn't sell it or give it way (since you don't have title to the vehicle).  You could try to get a title, if you claim it was abandoned on your property.  (But I think there's a time limit on how long it has to be on your property.)

Of course, it's not my fault those darn kids spray painted the thing hot pink before I was able to call the tow company. This post was edited by Walt O'Reagun at October 25, 2018 2:49 PM MDT

I don't have a lawn, but I'm pretty sure the Army would be able to take it back.

Putting aside that I don't have a lawn, is that even possible? They're fairly heavy vehicles.

As a government employee, I had to deal with the US Army, the biggest agency in the world, many times.  I found that if they decide they want something, it's smarter just to let them have it.  The Humvee would be theirs.

  • They could have it as long as they overlook my garden. *cough*

Depends on the local salvage laws.  That said if the Army wants it, the Army gets it.  Getting compesation in court for damage caused is a whole other story
