Not until they cross the border.
As long as they are in another country ... and not shooting at us ... we would have to have permission from the other country to use our military against them.

Sorry ... but marching into another country, waving the flag of your country, is not done by migrants.
    It's done by invaders.

  • If we're talking them making a forceful and violent attempt to cross the border by firing on us than yes I would follow orders if that sort of force was deemed necessary.

I wouldn't want a Wounded Knee type Massacre - it occurred on December 29, 1890, near Wounded Knee Creek on the Lakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in the U.S.

By the time the massacre was over, more than 150 men, women, and children of the Lakota had been killed and 51 were wounded (4 men and 47 women and children, some of whom died later); some estimates placed the number of dead at 300. - Wiki This post was edited by Beans/SilentGeneration at November 6, 2018 10:30 PM MST

I read "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" and was appalled at the inhumanity visited upon the Lakota.

It is even more disturbing when you realize how hard they tried to get along with us.  After all, we were the interlopers, yet we broke every treaty we made with them.

  • It seems doubtful. I don't have a heart for war, In the streets or on the borders. God bless our military and those who defend our country, but I would not be the right person to end a life.  There has to be a better way. I am far more likely to be at the border giving food, or water, or medical attention to those in need. Armed with compassion, I will always choose to show love.

If they try assaulting and injuring  our border patrol agents as they did to the Mex police....yes.

(I deleted my picture as I learned it was not from the current caravan...my apologies)

Peña Nieto called the confrontation a "unique incident," saying the migrants did not follow the protocols that Mexican immigration officials put in place in anticipation of the caravan. He added that some migrants "assaulted and even injured" a number of unarmed members of the Mexican police before they could contain the violence.

"Mexico won't allow anyone entering its territory in an erratic way and much less a violent way," he said Friday night in a video statement released on Twitter.

Are you implying that the injuries sustained by that Mexican policeman had anything to do with the current migrant caravan? This post was edited by SpunkySenior at October 26, 2018 11:43 AM MDT

Thank you.  Justice Clarence Thomas' wife was spreading fake news on the internet by claiming that was a recent photo.  You would think the wife of a Supreme Court justice would know better, but I understand that wasn't the first time she's tried this.

She probably seen it and fell for it the same as I did. Where ever I seen it said it was from the caravan. It is all our responsibility to try and verify. I thinking is was a twitter post originally. I figure the article I seen has likely been removed.

I was in the US Army for 9 years. I served, and commanded men, in live combat zones. There are always parameters for engagement and escalation in any live fire operations. I’ve never been part of an official directive to fire on groups of unarmed civilians. Short of receiving volleys of gunfire from the crowd, I do not expect such an order would be given here.

To your question, if there were an overt, armed attack against our positions, and lives of Americans became imperiled, yes, I would fire at the specific threat, as consistent with the on-scene command directives.

That said, I do not foresee the “migrant caravan” situation escalating beyond the use of nonlethal force like teargas, water cannons and such. This post was edited by Don Barzini at October 31, 2018 6:47 PM MDT
