Is anyone else dumbfounded by "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" on Netflix?

I grew up watching "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and saw the Netflix version pop up. I thought it would be similar. It's is very much not similar. O_o

Since I only have limited time in my life to check everything out, can you give us a HINT?

    LOL

I watched Sabrina too.  Is this some porno thing or just darker or what?

    Tell meeeeee

Nevermind.  I found something.  I see.  This is darker.  Thank goodness no porno.

    I loved the Sabrina show.

    Very cute.

Yeah... exactly. The original show was super cute. It was more along the lines of Bewitched, but with a teenager as the lead, or perhaps like Harry Potter, but more comedic.

The new version is really dark. I usually do a movie night with my kids once a week, so we fired up Netflix the other day and I saw this. I was super excited, thinking I'd be sharing a bit of my youth with them. Nuh uh. In this version, the witches are satanic. There's lots of killing and blood. It's a far cry from the Sabrina I grew up with where the worst she got involved in was comic mischief. That's not to say this version is bad... it's not. I'm actually enjoying it so far. It feels a bit more like Supernatural. But, it is sooooo not the show I thought it would be.

I see. It would be like Mickey Mouse having fangs and rabies.

  • You were still growing up when Sabrina the Teenage Witch was on?  So you were born in the 80's or 90's.  Practically a millennial. :P

Where did I say I was still growing up?

Actually I was about 30-40 range, so I WAS still growing up.  Unfortunately.

But I loved Sabrina.  That show was right around my exploring Wicca days and I thought it kind of funny and cute.

    The actors were great.

Umm... yes. I'm 36, which technically makes me a millennial. I was 13-14 when the original show came out.

Hehe. I remember that show. Me and you are similar age range, JA. I've not seen the latest one because we switched Netflix for Hulu. I'm thinking of switching back tho because Hulu sucks.
