Is there ever honor among thieves? Is there any ethics involved in dirty tricks? Or are thieves and dirty tricksters ethicless?

I think the early Italian Mafia practiced honor among thieves.  If they had a beef with someone, they didn't go after the wife and kids of that person.  Today, it may be a different story and for certain other such criminals will go after anyone and everyone associated with the offender.

You can not trust someone who lies and steals for a living.  That doesn't mean they aren't useful, you just have to keep them on a leash or give them a wide berth.

Yes there is Rosie.....many professional thieves would never ever target people's home or steal their cars ....many make their living robbing banks and when caught get a bit of prison time....on the other hand Banks can charge up to 40 % crippling intrest and in many cases far far more ,yet it's legal for them to steal and over charge
For many years they have perposly illeaglly  charged PPI to every one that has loans.....once found out they have had to pay back Billions of pounds ,yet not one bank person has been sent to prison.....

Many a proffessional thief is quite honest and open about who they rob....only those in power ,the Police ,Banks and legal profession are allowed to get away with it and allowed to carry on doing their mischief...:(
