    Two dog films. Max, which may have featured some combat, though a limited amount, and My Dog Skip, which was set in wartime but perhaps not technically a military film.

    I'm not sure that this fulfils your criteria, in that it takes place during World War II, but doesn't contain any battle scenes, shells, bombs, or shots fired "in anger" as they say. It's about two British officers and two nurses who become separated from their company in the evacuation of Tobruk and are trying to reach British lines driving across the desert in a military ambulance.
