Some people simply have no sense of humor (e.g. my siblings). While some are born that way (their personality), others are made that way by life. If one doesn't learn to laugh at or with life, then they'll be eaten up by it. Life is full of heartache, tragedy, loneliness, and suffering. Laughter can't cure these, but it can push it out of the forefront of our minds. If all we focus on are life's adversities, we will be most miserable. Fact - laughter heals. Fact - those who laugh a lot typically live longer (than those who don't).
I couldn't agree with you more or have said it better Shuhak! Jim and I laugh a lot each day. It's mostly very jolly in our place all the time and through the years having sense of humor has certainly helped us through the tougher days. We make each other laugh and we can laugh at ourselves as well. It beats crying! On a more somber note I heard as of yesterday 31 people had lost their lives in the California fires. 150,000 had been evacuated. Thousands of homes have been destroyed and the entire town of Paradise, California no longer exists. 80-90% of it is gone due to the fires. Meanwhile (here comes some very descriptive heartfelt language and I apologize in advance). Meanwhile the SOB devil dog blames California for the fires due to bad forestry management and says he will withhold federal funds if they don't shape up! Yesterday I read that Governor Brown asked the feds to declare a State of Emergency in California due to the fires and I don't know if the SOB devil dog spit in his face or released funds. But can you imagine when folks are down and grieving anyone scolding them? SIGH. Thank you for your reply. How is the air in your neighborhood? Happy Tuesday! :)
He released the funds. 90% of the town of Paradise is gone - including the commercial district (safeway, Kmart, McDonalds, JAck-in-the-box, etc.). Death toll is at 42 but that number is expected to go up. MAny of the fatalities were elderly folks who couldn't flee or people caught in their vehicles while trying to flee.
The air here quality here fluctuates between moderate to very unhealthy depending on the easterly drainage winds. The smell of burning wood is strong day and night. The smoke got so thick here on friday that it blotted out the sun at 2:11 pm (never saw it again until saturday). Within an hour the temperature dropped from the mid 60's to the mid 40's.
