  • I've adopted a minimalist lifestyle myself. Clutter gives me anxiety.

I have a real problem with that. Because I do not care at all.

It can all go up in smoke tomorrow and I will still be me and own me.

Things are just trinkets and trash in the end.

Not that I don't appreciate them, I do. I love a nice home, clothes, food, etc.  I am just saying, that I know what is truly important, and people and living creatures are where its at for me.

I ain't selling my soul for anything worldly.

  • In my line of work, I spend a lot of time in other people's homes. I see a disturbing amount of wall-to-wall tchotchkes on a daily basis.

I have a headache just reading that.

I have half and half, I admit.

I would love a minimalist atmosphere.  I'll bet it is perfection.  I'll bet you can FIND EVERYTHING.

I need to clean my closets.  Thanks, for this reminder.

  • I'm still working on getting rid of some of the useless crap I've accumulated over my lifetime but I've scaled back immensely. It's a process but I'm almost there. I don't buy useless nick nacks anymore.

I still don't know what it means. It sounds like something my mother would say in Yiddish. This post was edited by Element 99 at November 21, 2018 10:18 PM MST

I could toss 90% of the things I have and wouldn't notice. Much of it is tools that I can physically no longer use. I gave my multi-thousand dollar coin collection to my children. I don't miss it. This post was edited by Element 99 at February 4, 2019 11:18 AM MST

  • It's liberating to get rid of the stuff you don't need or use. It almost feels like losing weight.

Would you speak to my wife, please. She is a borderline hoarder.

  • No way.  While I have some things that are of sentimental value, material items will never own me.
