Some folks are very easy to get along with. Engaging with them is effortless. Others take a lot of hard work and infinite patience. I don't have patience and I don't wanna work hard. Lucky for me I have Jim. Are you lucky too? How and why?
Don't go changing to try to please me You never let me down before Don't imagine you're too familiar And I don't see you anymore
I would not leave you in times of trouble We never could have come this far I took the good times, I'll take the bad times I'll take you just the way you are
Don't go trying some new fashion Don't change the color of your hair You always have my unspoken passion Although I might not seem to care
I don't want clever conversation I never want to work that hard I just want someone that I can talk to I want you just the way you are
I need to know that you will always be The same old someone that I knew Oh, what will it take 'til you believe in me The way that I believe in you?
I said I love you, and that's forever And this I promise from the heart I could not love you any better I love you just the way you are
- Billy Joel, Just The Way You Are
I've sung this one to Maureen many times over the three decades we've been together. I don't know about anybody else's soulmate, but she's mine and I'm incredibly blessed to have found her as young as I was.
((hugs)). That's for you to pass on to your darling wife from me Sbf. You know I've complimented your union and acknowledged how happy I am for your and your sweet wife all the years we've been pals. It warms my heart that you are able to enjoy a love like that. My sister and brother-in-law are blessed in the same way as are Jim and I. I know there are other couples out there too like you but we don't hear so much about them. More's the pity. Thank you for your nifty reply and Happy Monday to you and your Maureen! :)
I never understood that soulmate business but I guess it is natural to try and inflate the rightness of our relationships to help us value and cherish them more. I think I could happily be with any number of people but of course I am restricted to what has come my way. And perhaps not that many would be willing to tolerate my weaknesses. I am with such a person who shares my general world view as well and enjoys my company. Who has a life of his own and is responsible in it. So I really think it would be foolish to look for or expect anything more.
