Why is everybody talking about Heavy Metal Detox? Simple – We live in a world where we are being exposed to tens of thousands of harmful compounds classified as human carcinogens (known or probable) according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, from the air, water, soil and food which include pesticides, herbicides, solvents, petrochemicals, heavy metals, and plastics. Those compounds interact with and are absorbed by soils, bodies of water, vegetation, fish and wildlife and are integrated into plant and animal tissues. As we breath, eat, and drink, we accumulate them into our bodies.

Heavy metals that lead to toxicity (or “poisoning”) are mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium, aluminum, nickel, uranium, copper, tin, and beryllium. They are very dangerous even in low concentrations.

Heavy metals first enter the bloodstream, then travel throughout the body and penetrate the cells of various tissues and organs, where they can remain stored up for years or even indefinitely if not removed.

Chronic diseases related to heavy metal toxicity also called heavy metal poisoning, is now considered a major problem that millions of people deal with. Long term exposure to these metals has been linked to degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

According to the National Institute of Health, exposure to toxic heavy metals is a contributing factor of symptoms like low energy, mood disturbances and cognitive changes.

Dr. Brian Clement, co-director of the Hippocrates Health Institute believes that most toxic heavy metals including arsenic, lead, and aluminum accumulate in the body and can have detrimental health effects that lead to serious health conditions such as infertility problems, neurological diseases and cardiovascular diseases.

These metals act as free radicals in the body, damaging healthy cells and encouraging rapid cell death. Healthy cells become unable to regenerate which results in rapid aging and a weakened immunity to disease and infection.

No One Is Exempt From Heavy Metal Toxicity

We are all continually exposed, so not only might you need to go through an aggressive detoxification program, but then you need to have some form of maintenance program to keep up with the continuous exposures. Think of detox as something that you incorporate into your healthy lifestyle.

How do you treat heavy metal toxicity?

The first and most important method to remove these heavy metals from the body is to eliminate dietary exposure of these metals. Once sources, to name just a few: Mercury in fish, dental fillings, vaccines - Aluminum in deodorants, prescription drugs, pots and pans, shampoos and skin creams - Cadmium in cigarettes, milk, fungicides, soft drinks - Lead in canned foods, paint, water, of exposure are eliminated, the body’s elimination system will begin to remove the heavy metal buildup in the organs and tissues.

A good detox program will help tremendously. Following a heavy metal detox protocol is one of the best ways to achieve optimum health.

Detox by using far infrared sauna, skin brushing, and exercising. According to Dr. Brian Clement, using an infrared sauna everyday, is an outstanding method to detoxify via the skin.

In studies, sweating through exercise has been shown to remove heavy metals in high quantities. Sedentary lifestyle with no sweat excretion is the reason there is more of an accumulation of toxicity.

Get rid of constipation through good hydration, consumption of six to eight servings of fiber every day, colon-hydro therapy, and use of a very high quality living probiotic such as Zana Juice. Ne Ching believes that you should be able to have at least two bowel movements per day in order to have a healthy colon. Hiromi Shinya, in his book Miracle of Enzymes wrote that “all the disease begins in the large intestine.”

Plant based foods to support your detox:

There are many foods that naturally have chelation properties. Those foods include leafy green veggies (kale, swiss chard, dandelion greens, mustard greens, arugula, spinach or beet greens, broccoli sprouts), herbs & spices (basil, parsley, oregano, rosemary, thyme, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon and cilantro), sea vegetables and more.

Consume Garlic and onions in abundance because they contain sulfur which helps the liver detoxify itself of heavy metals like lead and arsenic.

Fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C can reduce the damage caused by heavy metal toxicity by acting as an antioxidant. High-vitamin C foods include citrus fruits like oranges or grapefruit, leafy greens like spinach and kale, all types of berries, broccoli and cruciferous veggies, kiwi, papaya, guava and bell pepper will assist in the flushing of the heavy metals once bound to a substrate.

Spirulina - The Master Substrate of Heavy Metal Detox

Fresh Raw Living Spirulina contains phytonutrients, chlorophyll and phycocyanin, in their bioavailable whole and unprocessed forms.

Aluminium is not a heavy metal. Concentrations of heavy metals can also be determined by the geology of your surroundings, where the ground water is exposed to salts of these metals. Here in Ohio, the amounts of those metals are incredibly low, and mostly natural. The purest spring water will have tiny amounts of them.
