Other than strip malls and outdoor outlet malls, we have a big indoor mall about 20 minutes away. I have only been there twice, and will only go early Sunday morning when they first open, because I rationalize that the meth heads and criminals are likely asleep that time of the day.

We have one and it's about 30 minutes from here and full of young G.I.'s. I do not go there because of that and the traffic. I'm not a shopper anyway and avoid shopping on the internet and brick and mortar stores. Grocery shopping is a need so I get over my anti-socialism for 45 minutes or less and that includes travel time.
I don't like people oogling me. I do not worry about it any more, but when I was young, I did not like a group of men making comments.
But that has nothing to do with GI's. It has to do with men in packs. They get a bit over-the-top. I can handle anything now. But when I was younger, I felt very self-conscious when I had to walk past a group of men who wanted to flirt.
I think most women feel that way. Once you reach a certain age, you just don't care or - you take it as a compliment that they're still interested enough to look. :) At 73, I'm always amazed that I still get a look when passing a construction site.
