A bent nail isn't worth anything.

A rod with heating in it and a handle so you can turn it. you roll you long damp hair around the rod. then pull out the rod and keep the roll of hair rolled with something while you roll up the next tress of long hair. etc. then you wait untill the rolls are dry. getting more or less the effect you wanted.

Curling is done with a stone, not an iron. Golf is played with an iron.
