Is It Still Possible To Beat Back the Corporatist Statist Quo In America?

Nigel Farage certainly thinks so, and he should know what he's talking about.

Nigel Farage at Trump Rally: Anything Is Possible If Enough Decent People Fight the Establishment

This one of the most uplifting, hope-inspiring stemwinders I've heard in six months.  I pray to God he's right!

And I certainly hope it's possible to slap down America's uniparty system.  I don't want it defeated.  I want it obliterated!  I want it to be exposed for the rank, fetid evil it has become!  At some point before I shuffle off my mortal whatsits, I wanna see the electorate smack the supercilious smirk off the metaphorical pieholes of every autotheistic, pseudo-intellectual, gover-business, liber-servative, global plantation control freak wannabe in the land!

Tar, feathers and politicians: a match made in heaven!

We have this prophecy we call Armageddon. The USA is prominently absent from the story. The country must collapse and become helpless before then. You are seeing prophecy being fulfilled as you watch.

  • Several ways.

    Barter.

Buy most things second hand. Fix and re-use as much as possible.

Whenever possible, buy objects that are made to be long-term durable (future heirlooms) and take good care of them.

Be creative and make as many things for yourself and others as possible.

Buy locallly-grown and made. Buy from small time producers and businesses.

Look after money with credit unions, not banks.

Save 10% for a rainy day, and avoid all insurance that is not compulsory.

Down-size, have only what you need, plus a little extra for fun and pleasure.

Live a green life - it costs much less, is healthier, and usually more aesthetically pleasing.

It won't stop the corporations, but the more people who do it, the more of a dent it puts in their profits.

    Voting with actions.

I think you've suggested that before.  Perhaps we're referred to in symbolism in the Apocalypse.

Either way there was probably no Hebrew, Greek or Aramaic word for 'America' at the time. :-)

Farage and UKIP were not regarded as the official Brexit campaign. I am not at all sure what leaving the EU has to do with defeating corporations. As the EU discourages monopolies, I would say a layer of protection against the dominance of larger corporations was removed by Brexit.

  • Thank you Cleardach and Nimitz.

Slowly getting to know you a bit through your posts, Nimitz.

Looking forward to getting to know you too, Cleardach.

Must admit it feels good when someone likes a post. :)

  • Good point!

The EU demonstrates that governments collectively cooperating can have a limiting effect on corporations.

And perhaps we should all be thinking about this seriously - since it may be that corporations now wield the same kind of power as the Catholic Church once did - that they are the Thrid Estate, or the new ruling class and aristocracy.

How would it be if the USA joined with other like-minded governments in this way? (I can't imagine it happening, but to speculate might be fun.)

  • Farage asserts that the win of Brexit proved that little, real and ordinary people can overcome multinationals and banks. The selective Missippi crowd cheer him, and yet I feel sure that his statement is false. The Brexit campaign may won the "little" people, but the exit had no effect whatsoever on the power of banks and corporations, except maybe to make it easier for them to continue their current trajectory within the UK. The EU was legislating to limit the power of big business not to maintain or increase it.

"It showed that we reached those little people who felt they had lost control of their lives to big corporate powers by showing them they could regain their power by leaving the EU." Rather, it showed that the campaign for Brexit had done their market research effectively. They had learned what the majority felt and wanted, and designed their campaign to appeal to those wishes. They designed it well enough to convince them. And it was only possible because people were not paying sufficient attention to what was actually going on in EU legislation.

And yet what he does not mention is that surveys of voters after the referendum showed that the primary reason for choosing the exit was fear of lack of control over the sudden influx of refugees and asylum seekers, and the fear that they might change the way of life, or bring terrorism with them.

Frankly, I find Trump terrifying. He has no qualms about misrepresenting facts and employing others to help him do it.

Possible...yes, probable...no.  I have lived my life much as Hartfire advises, but until a great many do so, nothing will change.  I shall still do so, as it is my own personal "F**k You!" to the PTB...futile, perhaps...but it feels good.
