    In NYC, you are only supposed to use food stamps for food - no beer soda, cigarettes, liquor.  I don't think some snack foods are permitted either, but a lot of the small stores don't adhere to the rules.

    Thank you for your reply L and Happy Thursday.  I clip coupons whenever I see some for items we buy and sometimes I have quite a few. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anyone use food stamps but I guess they work the same as coupons. I'm just luckier than they are. I've never had to apply for them. I wonder if that is one of the things that is shut down too...the food stamp giving out department? SIGH. :)

    I clip some coupons - not the ones where you have to buy two of anything to get 10 cents off.  Food stamps no longer come in a coupon book - they use what looks like a credit card.  I guess it's less costly in the long run.  Fortunately, my family never had to apply for them either.  From what I understand, the food stamp program may run out of funding in February if the government remains shut down.  I guess those folks will have to visit food banks.  Happy Thursday. :)

    In a round about way you can buy crack with food stamps - buy a roast with the stamps then trade it for drugs. My Country doesn't have food stamps we have a social safety net type of system sadly it's abused sometimes but generally I'm glad it's in place to catch the people that have falling into hard times.  Cheers!

     Cheers right back at you m'dear. As I told Spunky I clip food coupons when I see them if they are for things I buy anyway. I've never had to apply for food stamps but I'm glad we have a system in place whereby folks who need them have access to them. I wonder if they can still get  them during this gubment shutdown crisis created by Putin right-stooge ultimatum boy? That would be very tragic. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday.  As for your scenario in the olden days folks used to barter right? So that would be the same thing. Trade what I have for what you have and I want? :)
