For shame.
Dang...after twenty years I get busted.
Yes, unapologetic too. Bring on the bracelets ;)
It sounds so "lurid". LOL
Oh, I love it. A smug pedagog.
Totally awesome. You own it. OWN it. LOL
Happily, yes. As should we all.
In the beginning, only slaves went to school, to learn to be better slaves. Children of working classes were trained by apprenticing into a trade, and high class children were taught at home by tutors. Classes in those days were conducted while walking. The slave who instructed the other slaves were called foot leaders, Greek pedagogues. That is also the source of the words pedant and expedient. The slave school method was adopted by Indian Brahmans, then the Prussian army. At that point came the only change in the system: soldiers were instructed while seated inside, rather than walking outside. Eventually the system found its way to the USA and England for public education.
In case you are wondering, the slave school system produces servants, technicians, and soldiers, while the tutor system produces entrepreneurs, philosophers, and generals.
Somebody has to do it, right? I consider it a public service, you're welcome ;)
If only we could all have tutors and could all be generals! An army of generals. We couldn't be defeated.
Yep, it was my profession for twenty years.
Somebody has to. RIGHT.
So Bromide is funnier than I AM? How dare you.
Such blatant pendantic pedagogery.
ahh you made it all up
I could tell that a mile away.
I bet you were good at it too.
Only on Thursdays
People have said so.
For so many years i had no idea. It seemed like a conveyor belt of endlessness and trying to make a difference within an inherently flawed system.
The most touching thing is when a former student seeks me out just to tell me how I influenced their lives.
It god-smacks me. One never knows what or when some small thing will make a positive difference, and when it does it feels like winning Lotto.
If I weren't so committed to my life and responsibilities here, that statement would be worth a move to the USA to become your student.
Stop with the serious answers already...NOBODY READS THEM.
I do. I love them.
