The military doesn't get paid during a government shutdown unless voted on by congress. Have they voted?

    The military was fully funded under a previous budget.
    Of the uniformed services, only the Coast Guard is affected by this shutdown, because they fall under the Dept of Homeland Security, not the DoD. This post was edited by Don Barzini at January 26, 2019 9:21 AM MST

    I think it's a shame that the Coast Guard is treated line the red-headed stepchild of the military.  They are just as important as any other branch of service and they deploy, too.

    I read today that USAA has donated $15M to assist Coast Guard members and their families.

    I think they're a wonderful company who really take care of their members. Being able to join is a valuable life-long benefit for military members and their families.

    A bill was introduced to pay the Coast Guard but it was blocked by the Dems in the Senate.
