Over 117 degrees. The chickens are laying hard-boiled eggs. Have you ever endured back-to-back heatwaves?

I'm melting here.

  • Every summer here is a nightmare.  The year before last, our high was 113.  Last summer I believe it was more like 108.   I feel your pain.  I have mountain blood, and I prefer to be in a cold climate.

I actually DON'T hate warm weather (high 90s, I'm comfy) but when the mercury goes over 110 for a few days in a row TWICE in the space of a fortnight, it's tough.

  • Oh, see, I hate it.   Every summer we go through the same thing here. If it weren't  for family, I'd be out of here. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 24, 2019 7:11 PM MST

Wait...you're an Ozzie. 117C will kill everything. No...we have never had that kind of heat (in F) here. We will be going down to -15F this upcoming Thorsday, though. Which is worse?

I "Americanized" it for the majority. 47.4C in Kent Town, an inner Adelaide suburb. We just broke the record for the highest temperature ever recorded in an Australian state capital city. This is our second heatwave in a fortnight.
Minus anything is worse, however. Record minimum in Adelaide was -1C (30F), I'm guessing you'd find that comfortable. I'd be wearing seventy pounds of clothing and still shivering.

Too bad your city's weather and mine can't split the difference. We'd both be at a really comfortable 69F!

We live in a more temperate climate where we do get hot weather in the summer, but not usually over 95 deg. F .. but with very high humidity.  Our winters are more uncomfortable than the summers with long stretches of weather below freezing.  Not really that bad though.

Yes.  It is normal to get really hot in Phoenix.  117 is insanely high for us though.

I just saw a video where crocodiles are freezing in some waters with ice on their noses.  I'm more worried about that.   I didn't check to see where they were.
