Do you really believe that strangers on an internet social site care that you don't care about something? Why?

If someone asks a question to which your response is "I don't care" what makes you think that answer is of any use/value/help to the person asking the question? Is saying it ego-driven?  What causes it?

    When hundreds of them essentially say "I don't care" by ignoring most of a particular user's questions, that may indcate that that user's questions are more vacuous than that user believes.
