Ladies, would you trade your bikini for a Burkini, even if you are not Muslim?

Some women are wearing them even if they are not Muslim, in solidarity with the woman who was made to undress on a beach in Southern France, just because she was wearing one. Undress in public, in front of everyone there! How insensitive!

The ban has been lifted. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-37198479

It's appalling, that in this day and age in a supposedly enlightened country like France, that the government would be telling people what to wear.

  • LOL! Stylish, huh?

I kind of photoshopped it, I think it's a mans outfit, but here is the link

@Capnron48, article in @The Guardian@: "I credit the Barquini to give women freedom not to take it away". By the designer of the burquini, Aheda Zanetti. She is a Lebonese-born Ausralian fashion designer.

She said she created the burquini for Muslims, Christians, Jewish, Hindus, and anyone else who wishes to wear modest dress or protect the skin. It is not symbolizing Islam.

She said sales have increase much since the story about the ban in France. All kinds of people are wearing it.

Yes, by now, the law has changed. It happened in Nice, where a terrible bombing happened, so police did not want any more problems. There were photos on Instagram by activists who showed the woman undressing on the beach. She did not undress totally, but just the fact that they made her take it off in public was bad enough. Women all over the world who get the news were outraged. Did you see the photo I posted about my reaction to it? It was called "Women should wear what they want". It was my reaction to the story.

@GoatHumper, that's not it. The Burkini looks like scuba-diving suit with a hood.

@Rpf, the police, in Nice, France, where the incident happened at the beach, the police claimed it was because of the recent bombing in there in that city. They didn't want any more problems with people identified as Muslims. But that reason is insane.

Ooh, you're good at photoshop. Sadly, I do not have the sewing skills to duplicate your photoshop ones. :/

  • so............................................... It's a wet suit

Why don't they just call it a wet suit?

More importantly...does this mean people cannot wear wet-suits at the beach in France?
