I cannot stand taking chances.  I cannot afford to.  I never understood gamblers.  Maybe because I have never had wealth.  I don't get throwing money away on the off chance that I will make more money.  Can't afford to take that chance.  BUT.... on the other end of the spectrum are those intuitive sorts who are great gamblers.   They make money and cast their fate to the wind.  I envy that.  But I am not willing to take the chance.  I have family members that do not have a brain in their skulls but are very successful gamblers.  Go figure.

I've always enjoyed gambling Sharon. Learned how to play poker from my dad. But it was always penny ante. Sometimes we'd use dried beans. It was never about the money. I guess Jim and I are controlled gamblers. The few times we've visited casino we'd each allow ourselves $20. Never more than that. it would be like going out to dinner or the theater or whatever. I'd start off with quarters. After the first $10 was gone I went to nickels. Never played pennies but I'm told there are penny machines too. We had fun while playing and just as much fun after. Food is great and reasonble. People-watching is fun too! We play the Lotto and sometimes we win enough to pay for the next ticket. Never won big but if you don't play you can't win. Thank you for your reply! :)

Oh that is really great, Rosie.  That is just fun money.  I guess I did not make it clear, I meant big money like a couple hundred dollars a month or something.

I don't worry about those who buy the occasional lottery ticket or have fun with the idea of gambling.  That is what you guys are doing.  I worry about the addicts.  I guess I never have to worry about me, because I don't even like casinos at all.

I only gamble what I can afford to lose. The occaaional lottery ticket and an annual $10 flutter on the Melbourne Cup.

That's us too R. We have  a strict limit that is comfy for us. We've only been to casinos a few times in the 21 plus years we've been together. My sister and brother-in-law live in Carson City, Nevada and have favorite casinos they go to regularly. They are big gamblers. Not in terms of the money they lose because they are of modest means as are we.  But they enjoy the ambiance and the excitement and so one of their budget items is gambling. Different strokes. Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday. You're still in Monday right?  :)
