Just an * by his name that says impeached

But he was impeached during the last year of his 2nd term.

Articles of impeachment were brought against him but he was acquitted of all charges.

He was?  I see.  It is amazing how much I still don't know.

I thought Impeached meant he was guilty.  I guess Impeached just means to legitimately charge the Pres.

Correct. i did not say the impeachment process resulted in a removal by the Senate.
The House impeached Clinton.  The Senate did not. But the result is President Clinton was impeached. (In a criminal case it would mean indicted) The House is like the Grand Jury and the Senate is like the court Jury in charge of finding guilt or innocence.

I, for some reason, had it that he was impeached before being re-elected.  This makes SO much more sense now.

I guess impeachment is not that big a deal after all.  No wonder Trump's not sweating.  He knows how long he can drag this out.  He is master of CLOGS.

But, Trump has given up any chance of being re-elected.  Of course.

It is a big deal if both houses of Congress agree. That results in removal from office.

"But, Trump has given up any chance of being re-elected.  Of course."

Unless, of course, he hasn't. He may very well run and be re-elected.

You have it backward. Clinton was re-elected in 1996 and impeached in 1998.

It seems to be the American Way: if you really dislike the winner of an election, you try to get him impeached or recalled. In Arizona we used to say most people didn't know the governor's name, but they wanted to recall him. Things have settled down now. People still don't know the governor's name, but there have been no recall efforts for several years.
