AL judge rules aborted baby is a person. How far can this go?

Teen father is suing an abortion clinic for the wrongful death of his child. The child (the aborted baby) is listed as a plaintiff as well. The judge has allowed the case to continue.

If successful could unborn babies gain personhood under the law?

Maybe abortion should be made illegal so then some unknown 'doctor' will be found to perform the abortion and then unlikely to be found to enable a lawsuit.

I guess it will be a matter of defining 'personhood'.

I believe it should be illegal.

Point is women who are determined will have unsafe risky abortions if abortion is made illegal or travel to a country where it is legal.

Just because people are determined to do something does not mean it should be legal.
Women are harmed from the supposed "safe" abortions that happen now.

There are various issues to be dealt with. I guess it involves some people' religious/idealistic  values as well.

Yeah, as much as I don't like abortion I don't think it should be made illegal. If that were to happen it would just turn out like the prohibition except with speakeasy abortion clinics and bootleg quality quacks to perform the abortions.

That is no reason for continuing to allow babies to be murdered.

    Woah. That's crazy sauce.

To be clear, the guy suing is leveraging Alabama's newer "personhood law" already. How it got passed in the first place is a mystery. The case isn't going anywhere and the law will be deemed unconstitutional.

This is mortifying. Talk about an ex-boyfriend from Hades. I feel bad for the girl who's now getting drug through the mud because some guy she dated years ago wants to prove a point.

Definitely an interesting case. I don't know if it will be thrown out. The personsonhood aspect could end up in the Supreme court. It is also strange that the case is from the father.

As an aside, Roe never had the abortion and was a pro-life activist for decades. This post was edited by my2cents at March 7, 2019 9:33 AM MST
