These labels are so stupid Welb because they are too simplistic. It is like me calling you a man. There is much more to you than that.
I don't know you. I think you are pretty conservative, with very liberal leanings and a progressive outlook besides because you are compassionate and open-minded. I also might note (since I am brutally honest and I love you and you know it) that you have a McCain vibe. You are very aware what your policies are, but you are so compassionate, you find yourself agreeing with most everyone rather than injure a feeling.
I think that is a PLUS. I don't mean it in any derogatory way. I WANT TO BE YOU.

That's easy. Because most of the smart socialists ARE N's, most of the Liberals have N friends and most of the Conservatives HATE N's.
So, when you label someone a SOCIALST, maybe they think you are calling them an N lover.

Actually, no one minds being called these names when it is a member of their own party identifying them. They only get offended when an opposing party spits the name at them. Because? Obviously, the same tribe rewards the sameness and the opposers hate his guts.

I would venture that it is done with the intent of stigmatizing these positions, and those who may hold them; affixing labels to construe the odious ”them” as targets for scorn. It has been my experience that those who advance this practice typically misunderstand what they are railing against.
