One company produces millions of widgets each year. One company limits production to just 1000. Which widget is best? Does quantity matter?

Does increase in quantity decrease quality or is the more you make the better you are at making it?

After a certain technological level, quantity doesn't necessarily effect quality.

When everything is being handmade, of course a widget produced by a master craftsperson will have higher quality.
Even if the quality goes down because of quantity, 100 master widgets will likely still have higher quality than a single beginner's widget.

When we get mass production, it is about consistency over time.
So even though a master's quality may be better, it is not consistent quality.

As the tools of mass production become more advanced; quality, quantity, and consistency can increase.
Eventually, mass production gets to the point that even a master can't compete with the quality.

I wonder. Do production lines consisting of robots turn out as good a product as production lines "manned" by humans? I also wonder how many people jobs will eventually be done by robots? Thank you for your thoughtful reply Walt. I'm gonna ask.

Ideally ... yes, robots would turn out a better product because they can be programmed to have stricter tolerances.
Example: a robot can be programmed to have a cutting tolerance down to nanometers.  Every single time.  Even if a human could "eyeball" such tolerances, they couldn't be consistent with it in the numbers a robot could.

Never heard of them D. I shall look at all the beers in the markets next trips. You and Sbf are the only ones of my internet friends who wax poetic about their country's beers. If others have I apologize for forgetting! Which is your very favorite? Now are dark stout beers those that are very "heavy" and thick? Once upon a time long ago my son and Old School drank a beer that was so thick it took them a very long while to finish them. I tasted it. YUCK! The only beer I ever tasted I couldn't stand. I don't remember the name. I'm not really a beer drinker but I like the ones I've tried. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday to thee D! :) ((hugs)) This post was edited by RosieG at March 14, 2019 6:31 PM MDT

It's the name given to the round plastic ball inside every can of Draught beer Rosie...it makes canned beer more like a natural beer....
I love Irish dark heavy stouts and have been drinking them ever since I could walk.....all us kids use to nick the white troth of our dads beer if he ever left his glass unattended....he could tell instantly who had been at his beer  because we all had white moustaches that had been drinking it......
Llike the French, we had diluted wine as kids as well when eating with adults anywhere....

You ARE a special gal m'dear. This is the first time I can remember anyone ever actually DESCRIBING a widget to me! Congrats! I know it's used to describe odds and ends and thingamajigs and whatnots. But those are general descriptions and your widgets are specific! Irish dark heavy stout? Mebbe that's  kinda like the one I tasted? Is it very thick because the one I tasted seem to be. Of course what you  grow up on  is always what you like best. It's what you're used to and what your tastebuds crave. I know I'd sure love it if my mom could make a few of things for me know that she did when we were growing up! Thank you for your reply D and Happy Friday to thee. Oh. What is going on vis a vis Brexit? Think it will ever be over and done? I feel kinda sorry for Theresa May. Of course I totally don't have a clue being so far away. How do you want it resolved?

You are not the only one that doesn't understand Rosie....only the parasetic  European  MPs  understand how much they are going to loose out on cash wise.....they make and enforce the most stupid laws and over pay themselves billions of pound or euros.....all that money for walking about carrying a A4 peice of paper ,just to make out they are working or to look like they are doing some thing.....
People here are sick of them all....

I wonder how long it can stay unresolved? There has to be an end/resolution eventually right? In the meantime how are ya doin'? Is the chaos affecting you personally? Thank you for your reply D!  :)

I heavent noticed anything different Rosie.....we've been screwed by all these foreign rules and regulation from day one of joining the common market....
Some of the things they force us to do in England beggers belief....
All these euro MP's do is line their own pockets ,they let floods of immigrant extremist in that bomb the public in France ,Belgium etc ...and then wonder why it happens....
Its  a good thing to help people in need ,but how many innocent lives are lost by doing so ?

Good. Great. I think that's very good honey. Maybe others living different kinds of lives are being impacted adversely but it's good to know that so far nothing unbearable is going on for you. I'm across an ocean and a continent from you so the news we get is very LONG-DISTANCE. I read of CHAOS and a very unpopular Theresa May who is hanging by a thread and some folks want OUT and some want TO STAY. Maybe it's just normal ordinary everyday politics. If it's not one thing it's another wherever you are. Thank you for your reply!   :)
