I don't think you can limit it to right-wing ... it's any extremist government, as we have seen for decades. Among the first people the Communists kill when they gain power, are members of the press.
I would say that as soon as they start killing the opposition ... or possible sources of opposition ... they become extreme.
The major Communist Revolutions of the last century, all led to purges of media and academics after the revolution. Why? Because those people were supporters of the revolution. So obviously, they could easily support an anti-Communist revolution, if they didn't like the new Communist government. Much simpler to kill possible future opponents, than to work with them for the good of everybody.
I had to run a search to find the "extreme socialist nations" in the world, currently:
China
Denmark
Finland
Netherlands
Canada
Sweden
Norway
Ireland
New Zealand
Belgium
Other than China ... I wouldn't use the term "extreme" for any of them. Sure, they have strong socialist governments - but they don't persecute people who speak out against them.
