Hope everyone is doing well here. I haven't been on for several weeks. I had much going on in my personal life, but ready to rock and roll again and chat it up with friends here.
I had taken a long road trip to Canada with my husband and met family I never knew before! Meeting aunts and cousins on my Mom's side felt so healing after losing her a few months back.
Anyone else do anything interesting this summer?
Ahhhh, tired from moving, going to get my doctor changed nearby and going to physical therapy for my knee, so I won't need (hopefully) surgery.
Been very busy, still not quite settled in, but going slowly. I'm moving on up (literally) lol
I have Canadian relatives too. I feel your pain.
Moving is a lot of stress. Along with the trip, the summer involved having my mother's apartment cleared out, my son moved into his housing, and now helping my husband's Mom move into her new Assisted Living home.
Older people sure collect a lot of stuff. I do mean a lot. She wants to give us all these things she has and we are trying to downsize ourselves. My husband and I want to live in a smaller place that isn't a warehouse for all the possessions or our kids and parents, deceased or not.
Do you like your relatives on the other side of the border charface? I never really got to know them at all since my mother cut off ties with everyone but a sister or two. They all spoke French too and I was never taught. But after she died, I found a few on FB that could speak English and contacted them with the news of her passing. I was pleasantly surprised to find more than a few wanted to get to know me. I was not disappointed meeting them either. I sort of feel like I have a part of my Mom with them.
I went to Japan this summer :)
(My new profile picture is a shot from me hiking in the mountains of Honshu. I visited a number of family members who live there and I already am missing it!)
I also managed to get to Yosemite, Lake Tahoe twice, and Los Angeles. I'm going to miss the summer, but I'm excited to begin teaching this fall.
Awesome Marguerite. My travels were not that long, but this trip really had so much meaning to me. It felt good taking some time to reflect on my whole family, being that there was so much loss over the years before my Mom's passing. I kinda feel like this trip filled that void.
Glad to be back too!
Welcome back, Peas!
Welcome back PP.
I am in school, I don't know if you even know me but I do remember you. It's always good to see a nice member return.
Now that is some great traveling. Good for you for having the opportunity to do it.
I long to see the western states. I have been to Calf., but never to Lake Tahoe or Yosemite. I can only imagine the trip to Japan!
Thank-you Boz. It feels good to be back where I belong. :)
Hi PeaPod! Seems all I've done this summer is work!
PEAS!!!!!! Welcome back, I am glad you had a good trip and met your family.
I have been off and on here, but I have been busy with home projects.
Things are better now, so I hope to be around more too.
Awww, of course I remember you Sharonna and thank-you for the compliment.
I often would stop and read posts here, but just got kind of lazy signing in and chatting away. I got busy with projects like scanning old pictures and slides of my mom and our family; another time consuming adventure that actually cut into my online time (I laugh at myself with that one because it's usually the other way around).
Remy!!! It's always great seeing you again. I still adore the avatar and I knew the last time we talked that you were putting in the hours. I hope it all pays off for you too.
Just where I belong! It feels good to wander back in and see all the peeps I like to chat with. I'm thrilled you are here too! :)
Lulu!!! Hellooooo to you.
The trip was wonderful and I really made a few bonds that I know are a keeper. My aunt Rita is a hoot and she had me laughing the whole time. I nearly fell over when I saw her make some of the same gestures my mom always made. They did NOT grow up together either, so it was hilarious to watch.
Lulu.....good to see you and the rest on here. Been so busy I'm either going to physical therapy or STILL inpacking a few boxes at a time. We got rid of a LOT because we have a 1 bdrm now, so it's tiny, but cozy!
We live next to a dance studio/school. On the weekends the studets give performances. So cool! We can still be nice and cool in the apt....lol
I was able to downsize sooo much this last move. It took forever it seemed, but well worth it.
All I really have left is a trunk full of Angels, to start giving out again and pictures and pictures of the grand kids.
That is great Peas. Family and friends are so important.
Hi SA! I am so happy you like your new place.
Have you met any of your new neighbors?
