It seems that fewer names for girls double as surnames than do names for boys.

Some examples:
Arthur, Brent, Charles, Douglas, Everet, Frank, Gordon, Harold, Isaac, Jordan, Keith, Lucas, Marcus, Neil, Otis, Paul, Quentin, Randolph, Samuel, Theodore, Ulysses, Victor, Warren, Xavier, Younger, Zachary.

What are some names for girls that also work as surnames, and can you list twenty-six of them?

Nope.  I cannot.  Because I cannot care enough to list any.

    Are any girls named Trump?

    How about Pence?

    How about Ryan?

    How about McConnell?

    Probably.

So what was the purpose of posting an answer at all, other than to ferment your anti-Trump obsession?  Listen, we already know you have Trump on the brain 24/7, it’s gotten old and tired already.  Why not restrict it to Trump-related traffic only?

There seems to be a modern trend towards "appropriating" what were originally family names (e.g. Taylor, Madison, Piper) as given names for girls. Conferring surnames on boys as given names is a much longer-established practice, indeed there were examples as far back as the 19th Century or earlier. I don't think I could give as many as 26 though.

But there are a few examples of traditional given names also being surnames. Miranda is one example that springs to mind. And there was once a British cabinet minister called Francis Maude. May used to be a girl's name as well, but I don't think it has been used since about 1930.  This post was edited by Reverend Muhammadovsky at March 31, 2019 2:04 AM MDT
