I have told them what was wrong and why it was wrong. Not just "that's crap".
Took many years but finally got them voting Republican. Hope it sticks.

Or very foolish. Or very self-centered.  No I think saying that would be disrespectful.  They have their own ideas and they would be foolish to think it some kind of game to get me to change mine.  I don't even air my views unless I am asked.  And if I air them I don't argue about them because why bother?   If they see it another way then they are not going to get it anyway whatever I say or explain.

As I have mentioned previously, I have a conservative brother-in-law who hangs out most mornings at a coffee shop with the mayor, city council members, police chief, fire chief, and a retired state judge. I wish they had a hidden recorder, as the comments would be interesting. Being city govt folks, most are liberals.

  • Only to the extent that it might require some degree of courage to have your head knocked off. Here in the south, we've come a long way from the habits of our Scots-Irish ancestors who would fight a duel or a war over some political issue. In my family, we've never resorted to the immature name calling and hysterics that go with a chip on the shoulder. It's a strange thing, but an ounce of tact and a little bit of education will make your point without bloodshed. I've never seen it fail that you get as good as you dish out in most arguments. Moral of story: Never let mouth write a check that butt can't cash.
