A Thumb drive, also known as a flash drive, is a small memory unit a few inches long that can store a large amount of data. It can be inserted into the USB port of a computer, often pushed in with the thumb, hence the name. Easy to hide on one's person, but you'd still need access to the computer itself.

Small flash drive containing information.  I won't use them here at work or at home for fear they may contain viruses.

Thank you for your helpful reply m2c. Is there no way of knowing if one is infected with a virus until AFTER the fact of its being deployed? I'm gonna ask. Geez if true that is very scary. Don't know if you heard but a Chinese woman was arrested at Mar a Lago yesterday I believe who had one. How she planned to use it I don't know. Happy  Wednesday!  :)

Those who are more technologically savvy on here could answer that.  I guess if it from someone you trust there would not likely be a problem but I saw a TV show where flash drives contained viruses which made me very cautious about dealing with them.

My computer's antivirus software automatically scans any external devices before they can be accessed. You might try that.
