Good point.  I don't think there is.

    Or ever was.

I know. We started off down and if we've moved at all we've only gone downer. Witness what was "chosen" as our prez! Thank you for your reply Sharon! :)

I don't know every country's history in depth so I cannot say for sure. But we know that many or most of the ones we can readily think of have horrible histories.. Certainly the UK does! I once had a guy from India say his country had never had anything horrible in their history.. when we looked into it there were things..

I think some of it is a matter of perspective.. like perhaps some tribe that lives peacefully, not intruding on other's lives and territory.. but having incest practices..or female mutilation or.. or... or.. would that be considered horrible.

Either way I am glad that we are generally speaking more aware of the wrongs of the past.

Yet though aware how are we getting better? Yes some of the barbaric practices of the past stayed there...sacrificing humans on some altar to placate "the gods". But aren't even more barbaric in the way we haven't evolved into kinder more peaceful people? Only now it seems the worst among us are being elected to powerful positions which doesn't speak well for the rest of us. Why do we admire evildoers? I don't get it. Thank you for your reply ADDB! :)

I can totally understand your cynicism.. but I do believe we have grown and learned... we used to believe women were less intelligent than men.. we now know differently and so women get a fair education, or fairer..  We  in the UK did some truly awful things..at that time my people, the common people were treated as little more than slaves themselves so had no say... we now know those things was despicable... there isn't any way my people would ever think that's ok to invade, (albeit in conjunction with some of the natives to exploit others). There are so many areas of improvement..  but yes, electing the biggest joke in history is a retrograde step and it DOES very much send a worrying signal across the world
