Can you recommend a book on modern physics written for the non-scientist layman?

I read so much going on about black holes and neutron stars etc, and it's all going way over my head.

Google it.    There is so much information out there about this subject.....it's often made simple as it has to cater for the general public that are like most people very unknowledgeable about such things.....most all are still theories at the moment and still need to be proved...
