The most amazing person I knew at the time was a co-worker, who had literally hiked nearly every country and had tons of stories about the people and places he had seen. Unfortunately, the risk finally caught up with him a couple years later and he was killed by "rebels" in some African country he was hiking.
Amazing because he was so adventurous? I'm guessing he had no family...nothing to anchor him anywhere. Thank you for your reply Walt. What amazes me is the dearth of replies to this question. That saddens me bigly! :(
Not just because he was adventurous ... but because he also took the time to learn about the people he met and places he went.
He had both parents and a couple siblings ... but didn't have a wife and children, if that's what you meant by family. I think there's actually a saying along the lines of "family makes us hostage to fortune".
Apologies Walt but I don't understand "family makes us hostage to fortune". Honestly it makes no sense to me at all. Wouldja translate it for me in plain language? Yes that's what I mean. A husband might leave his wife for months on end but a father leaving his children for adventure and travels? Not likely. Thank you for your reply! :)
Oh. Okey dokey. Of course that's true. When you are single your life centers around you. When you get married that kinda stops sorta. When you have kids that dies immediately. Nothing is only about you any longer ever again Thanks m'dear! :) Appreciate it! :)
