How much money would you be willing to spend on the best tasting meal of your life? What meal would that be?

The "best-tasting meals of my life" I make in my own kitchen and they are not expensive. Simple and natural ingredients.  We do spend $90 to $120 for the two of us including wine eating out perhaps once a month and having things I don't prepare at home.

A lovely answer and I am very envious of the fact that you can both grow and cook this wonderful stuff.

AMEN to you both and enjoy.

Well no we don't grow our own.  I have a garden but it is flowers.  Thank you.

The squirrels and rabbits and woodchucks and opossums and deer would eat them.

In my case, that is extremely difficult to answer, because I don't associate great food with cost. A great-tasting meal doesn't necessarily require a lot of money being spent.  For instance, my wife is a great cook, and s a very frugal person.  She whips up great dishes all the time, and does so without always spending a lot. From time to time, it may cost money to create good meals, not every single time.

I would pay one hundred dollars easy to have a meal cooked by your wife with any ingredients she chooses at any cost.  That is the highest compliment I can pay a woman whose man who has has traveled the high seas and ate everywhere, is still saying about his own wife. (That, or he is terrified of her and that she will come on here and read this.)

And, if he is being sincere about this, and I KNOW YOU ARE,  it would be a bargain.  Most great restaurants copy home-made, not vice-versa.

You're right, it's a typo, but it's supposed to be the letter a instead of s.  They're right next to each other on the keyboard and I fat-fingered them. It has been edited.

my friends dinner, big hunk of dead cow. Gross

Best dessert I’ve ever had in my life, sticky toffee pudding. Sooo good

If I want someone to cook for me I guess I would prefer they were a little less - shall we say macho?

  • Lol, I don’t think it was actually Gordon Ramsey cooking.... just his name on  restaurant...

I have seen him on TV and doubt I would want to go near any restaurant with his name on it.  We know these older people whose son was on the first season of I think it was Hell's Kitchen and they told us he (Ramsay) was just insufferably difficult.

Because easier to be just yourself when you feel they don't have any other expectations of you?

  • No, because I’m conducting  scientifical experiments on mascara. I want to know which brand creates the best tear stained streaks, which has the most staying power, which just globes up with tears. That kind of stuff.
