It is called being NOUVEAU RICHE and you're right. The old guard looks down on it. Old money considers new money to be crass and brash and tawdry and cheap and loud. I guess they have to find something to feel superior about and someone to look down upon even
among the wealthy. But the vast majority of unwealthy folks get addlebrained when they are confronted with wealthy folks. They kiss a ** shamelessly. Sad. Thank you for your reply HarryD! :)
I see four sentences making a statement and one word lamely passing as a question.
People have committed suicide in India (just recently by a few years one notable person) because they are literally mentioned as untouchables. THAT is a caste system. Class isn't always about rich vs. poor. People have biases you can be equally poor and still think you are better than someone else.
How many so-called "billionaires" really are billionaires, Rosie? Over the last few years I have seen the word "billions" used so loosely for the sake of exaggeration and nothing more that I have become somewhat skeptical of anything involving that word.
Happy Friday, Rosie!:)
Don't let that fool you they aren't any better than any of us it's your character that counts. When they kick the bucket they will be buried six feet and have dirt thrown over them like anyone else.
You are right, it is worded like that, but even so I knew what the question meant. Lol:)

Wrong. The entire shtick about gloves and hats and white dresses is made up solely to identify who is in and who is out. Some members of the society crowd make fairly low salaries. The only deciding factor is charity work. Only people in the lowest caste think it is based on money. If it gives you any comfort, almost everybody is in the lowest caste.
That is a dam* good question Andy. I don't know. They can claim anything they want and unless we can see audited financial statements we would never know. Thank you for your reply m'dear! :)

A caste system implies that you are what you were born. You can't gain status and you can't lose it either. It isn't like that in the U.S.. There is no caste system. It's a meritocracy (or at least it was before people like you screwed it up).
Social status is based mostly on wealth, but wealth is based on hundreds of factors.
Mostly yes, but not entirely.
There was this guy i found on the web. Billionaire or more. He was agitating for paying higher wages to low level employees.
He did not call himself a communist, but I am sure many will call him just that.
And I cannot imagine a lower status than being "a commie" in the US.
By the way, how 'high status' would you say Donald Trump is at this time ? ;-))
Depends on whom you ask. His adoring worhippers would walk into the ocean and drown themselves if he told them to do so. I'm not kidding. I think he is the lowest most worthless boorish ignoramus I've ever had the misfortune to get to "know". How he can possibly appeal to any normal rational intelligent human being I shall never understand. He is a two-dimensional cartoon characterl. Robotic in that he has no heart or soul nor does he give a sh** about anyone but himself. Folks kiss his a** and suck up to him shamelessly.
I cannot figure them out but I guess I don't need to. Did I answer your question JakobA? Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday! :)
