I've been known to reshape both pegs and holes to ensure a functional fit, if necessary.

But most of the time, if something doesn't fit I just move on to where the fit feels right.

I'm with you bw. My Jim tells me to NEVER FORCE ANYTHING. If it isn't an "easy" fit don't do it! Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday! :)

Well ... from placing fence posts, I know a square post can fit in a round post hole.
So I imagine the same would be true of pegs.

Of course, if the circle is a little too small ... you just pound the pole in and "warp" the circle.

Certainly if the round is far larger than the square there is no problem.  But it stands to reason that  around would not accommodate a round PLUS TRIANGLES which is what the square edge looks like. unless the square is much smaller or the circle is much larger. Right? And pounding it in when the circle is too small? My Jim sez "DON'T EVER FORCE ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T FIT". Thank you for the diagram Walt. Did you think I was talking about a  circle large enough to accommodate the square? I wasn't.

If the area of both are the same, neither will fit in the other.  lol
