Yes, It is how my brother and sister got here. 

In college I had roommates who would bring girlfriends over and yes, I was aware of them copulating. I just plugged my ears or turned up my music really loud. 

im sure i have but I've never heard it. i would interrupt and tell them to be quiet. if I'm not having sex why would i want to hear someone else having sex 

Not that I am aware of however I did have a frisky neighbor once.  The apartment walls were thin, very thin.

Yes in any collection of people living in a house there will be a certain amount of sexual activity.  Whether roommates or a group home. When I was very young I lived with a band and there were perhaps almost 20 other living their as well as visitors so there was often quite a lot going on most of the time. In our home that has been sometimes true of my stepdaughters and their boyfriends or sometimes with invited guests. 

Since most people have parents,   I would say this is inevitable.

Most housemates usually had a steady boyfriend or girlfriend.

Othe common places included music festivals - you could hear the sounds coming from the tents late at night and in the early mornings.
