How many times have I asked this question?

Sorry, I do have that effect on people.  (I'm hoping you'll look up affect and effect for me.  I can't remember anything except, Affect is Never a Noun (ANN)).   Now, I have parentheses inside parentheses.  Should I make the outer pair brackets or something else?
