    You can bet your life that its safe. One of my nic-names is MR. Safety -  all my tools are in save working order and I work and play safe and if I see anybody not working or playing safe - I give them a safety lecture (that's how the nic-name started - after the safety  lecture they kind of sarcastically  said - OK Mr. Safety and it stuck).  As far as the sanitary part goes I got to say a few germs aren't going to kill you. Cheers!
