I'm thinking it would be very boring.
So I might have to "spice it up" a little, and put it in the realm of "historic fiction" (like Forest Gump).

I think Forrest Gump was a brilliantly written piece of fiction that wove bits and piece of reality into it. That's what drew us in. If you could write something like that Walt you'd be a bazillionaire for sure. The actors were well-chosen. The odyssey was fascinating. It was heartfelt and funny and very sad and very joyful. It was a perfect blend of actor and story. I don't see how it could have been improved. If you have something like that within you by all means let it out. Let us share. I sure could use seeing another Forrest Gump. Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday! :) This post was edited by RosieG at June 28, 2019 2:44 AM MDT

  • I would never include things with the expressed intent to harm someone.  If there was a sensitive topic in need of being included, that I felt may negatively impact another person I would certainly approach the subject with care.  I may even go as far as letting them know in advance of the inclusion and try to soften any surprise.  My main fear in regaling people of my life and misadventures would be that in my attempt to be forthcoming and honest I may actually do more harm to myself than anyone else.  Perhaps some things should remain secret.  doesn't the absence of full disclosure really just equate to shaving parts of the truth off that don't suit us?  I guess ultimately we each get to decide how we present ourselves to others, but we should always be careful of the light we choose to cast others in.

Nicely stated TD. I've often wondered what the purpose of writing a book about oneself is? What makes folks think they are so remarkably fascinating that others would pay to read about their lives? Is it cathartic? Is it  done to rectify past wrongs, admit them and apologize or is it solely to "get back at" and change the story line? Is it to brag about one's conquests/successes? To justify rationalize explain? Is it to gain notoriety/attention for a flagging career? In any case I see no point in attacking others permanently which is exactly what happens when you write a book and name names. Not my cuppa tea. Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday to thee!  :)
