The poor animals endured horrific things.   Are there no laws governing/controlling what can be done to animals in the name of "research"? Are there no laws/rules/protocols that prevent torture?

If it were you had impaired or blocked vision from damaged corneas, you would be all for it.

As Char posted there are indeed laws about this.
But I think they may not forbid the killing of the animals after use in these experiments.
I remember one a while back with bunnies. They had the bunnies run for long periods of time and then massages half of them to see the effect of the massages. After the experiment was done (proved massages helped) they killed all the bunnies.

What I read horrified me m2c! They put acid in one eye of these dogs. I don't know what they did to the other eye. When the Beagles were no longer useful they were euthanized. I know they have to test possible cures for humans on animals. But Beagles? I thought they used rats. Isn't Snoopy of Peanuts fame a Beagle? It just shocked me. Killing bunnies? I remember back when I was just a little girl at Easter time you'd see these cute little yellow chicks and of course The  EASTER bunny and Bugs Bunny I worked with a gal whose daughter had a rabbit for a pet!  I don't how to reconcile the need for testing to benefit  humans and the need to treat animals humanely. Do you? Thank you for your reply m'dear and Happy Tuesday! :)
