I watch the Science Channel a lot. I've seen countless shows on how the universe began. I still don't grasp it. Do you?

In the beginning there was NOTHING? Or what you see always was and always will be? No beginning no end just perpetual being? How? How does something come from nothing? How can there possibly NOT have been a beginning?

Your life has a beginning a middle and an ending. So does everything else. How do you begin anything without having something to begin with?

The science channel never mentions big bounce theory? The universe recycles itself expanding from a point of zero dimension  (not exactly nothing) to a size containing about two trillion galaxies then eventually 'big crunches' back down to a point of zero dimension. Repeat infinitely. If you can perceive that time is an illusion then it is easier to comprehend infinity. However it is nicer for us experience the illusion of elapsing time otherwise you would be born,  celebrate all your birthdays and then die at the same instant. Wouldn't want that would you?

Thank you for your reply Kg. I do not understand or comprehend a single word you said. How can anything come from a point of ZERO dimension? And more importantly How did it get there? What was there BEFORE that? Apologies. The fault lies with me not with you. I do not understand or comprehend complete nothingness being able to produce what that zero point has produced. I could pretend I understand but that would be lying which I don't do. Thank you for trying and Happy Sunday to you! :)

Force of gravity is great enough to big crunch the entire universe of 2 trillion galaxies down to a point of 'nothingness' which measures zero in dimensions but is not exactly nothing when it is capable of  re-expanding (big bangs) into another new universe of trillions of galaxies.

Big bounce theory explains the entire process.

Thank you for your persistence Kg. It does not explain anything if by explain you mean I should comprehend/understand it. I don't know what level IQ you have but I'm not a genius. Some things are difficult for me to grasp. I apply logic where I can and in this realm nothing is logical to me. Quantum Entanglement for example. Do YOU understand why it is what it is? I understand quantum entanglement in a rough kind of way -like a particle follows the exact movements of another particle from what we perceive as distance but in zero dimensional quantum state space/distance is non existent so it is possible for the particles to easily communicate with one another even though they seem to be light years apart.

It's like we could quantum entangle two pairs of dice, you take one pair of dice to a casino on a far away planet in a different galaxy then when you are playing communicate with me -say you need a 2 and a 6 to show then back home I set my dice with 2 and 6 showing then when you roll your dice they come with a 2 and 6 showing. We could break the house..
But I think scientists have in mind more practical uses for quantum entanglement than that.

OK sweetie. I am going to read this reply a few times. It is very meaty and I have to take it in small bites.  I think my problem is not being able to grasp "zero dimensional". It seems to be the basis for what comes next. I wish I had your ability to understand what you're talking about. I am a huge fan of quantum physics and have read and own dozens of books written by physicists for lay people like me. Of course I don't understand everything I read but I understand enough to constantly be amazed by it. One of the shows on the Science Channel I saw did "explain" quantum entanglement in a mystical way. It is as if there are unseen/undetectable connectors between "here" and "there". "There" may be millions of miles away. But you push something "here" and you get a detectable reaction "there". Invisible threads of connection exist everywhere.  Black holes were only theory once upon a time long ago. But don't we now have PROOF they exist? In my next lifetime(I wish) I want to be smart enough to be a quantum physicist. Anyway I do appreciate your hanging in with me. Thank you for your thoughtful reply Kg and Happy Saturday to thee This post was edited by RosieG at July 13, 2019 7:01 AM MDT
