Why do artists always depict God as an old dude with gray hair and a long beard?

1. How do they know?
2. If he were omnipotent, why wouldn't he keep himself looking young?

    What are you, Rosie now?   Artists do not ALWAYs depict anything.  

    There are more ways to depict GOD than just about anything that was ever depicted and that idea is far from the most popular.


    What about cave drawings?  I have not seen many old men painted in those caves.

    Very few people lived to old age in those days. Probably never saw a white haired old man.

    To be fair, this is not the case in Hinduism. But then, THAT religion must be false, right? 

    The answer is easy, the same reason Jesus so often resembles a fair skinned European: Biased Tradition.

    Artists of the past were generally all [white] men, so were the prophets and most lead characters in scriptures, as well as the authors of scripture. 
    Age denotes wisdom and authority, and traditionally, bearded males held all power and dictated the history.          Because most people do not understand something
    beyond being personalized.
    They identify with their body thinking "This 
    is who I am", not Understanding that their real Self is beyond
    the physical body. So not realizing that which is beyond the body
    and that they are not the body,
    they attribute everything as to being a physical body.
