Instead of candles we used firewood one evening in the back yard and roasted weiners over the open fire and enjoyed our hotdogs with mustard and relish.

    So kissy romantic!

  • I love it!  Sounds wonderful.
A warm, glowing, open fire, certainly sets a romantic mood,
and without a doubt, the wieners bring the whimsy.
Wouldn't want to be too pretentious ya know.  LOL!

    Feb 14th, this year.
There's a new place, Wylde Thyme,  in town - amazing food.
Low tungsten light - I would have liked it a little brighter to better see the food and my belovéd's face.
Quiet background music - Sheila Chandra - Celtic-Indian.
Rather crowded - every table full - spilling out onto the pavement - balmy summer night.

There were five courses, a 1/4 glass of a different wine with each.
    One called Mushroom Garden -
an earth of tomato and fungi porchini sauce sprinkled with finely chopped parsley - looked like a field of grass,
a cluster of roasted field mushrooms standing in the grass slightly off-centre
a tangle of finely julienned, crisp-fried onion - looking like old vines,
a scatter of tiny, bright, chopped rose petals - looking like flowers.

I asked Ari about the successes in his life that he was most proud of.
It kept us talking through all the courses.

We came home mellow - feeling glad we'd chosen each other as lifemates.

  • Simple.  Lovely.  Atmospheric.

    You make me hungry, bookworm.
With your talk of food, my mouth waters
and I am desiring of something with which to nourish my body.
Through the story shared of time spent with your lifemate
I come to crave even more so than food, delicious love,
and a huge slice of forever just to spend with he for whom my heart beats.
For he shines brighter than any fire or candlelight to ever grace my lifetime's table.

So glad to hear that you and Ari have these moments you tell of.
