This is the most simple question I have ever answered.

    NO

Oh wait...  There WAS Gorbachov and he wasn't too, TOO bad, was he?

    1. Gorbachev grew up a good boy in the village of Privolnoye He was not very fond of children, and he was not friendly with him. He was afraid of people, but he was good.

Gorbachev was good in many ways, but the most remarkable is that he let Soviet Union disintegrate with out pushing world into Nuclear annihilation.

We can only hope, that when American empire fall US will not start nuclear war just to hold to power a little bit longer.

I just asked a question about the use of the atomic bomb Sharon. Would you have made the same choice had you been president? Allegedly Russia was going to enter the war in two days. Truman ordered the bombs be dropped. If he hadn't and Russia entered the war what would have happened? Now if there is a war there is no question we will be using nuclear weapons. Is all such use inhumane and evil? I dunno. It's confusing. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday! :)

Yep ... GGM is correct.  It was the tzars, prior to WW2.

Sorry ... the "," should have been a "/" (and/or) ... as we cooperated with the Soviets during WW2.
We kinda trusted them then ... even though we weren't allies, as much as "the enemy of my enemy".

  • Yeah.  We didn't really trust them during WW2 either.   Making an alliance with them was a hard sell and hotly contested as a good idea at the time.

The allies needed their cannon fodder and meat bags while they needed the allies vastly superior technology, tactics knowledge, nd manufacturing prowess. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at July 31, 2019 2:05 PM MDT

The T-34 tank was at least as good if not better than any other tank produced in WW2, at least in Russian conditions. And the Yak-9 was the equal of the P-51. It was the Soviets who most certainly won the war in Europe, the Allies were losing prior to Hitler's violation of the non-aggression pact with Stalin.

  • Russian weapons and manufacturing was very spotty  and lacking.
Neither could have done it on their own. Tactics were subparagraph as well.  Weather, terrain, and a seemingly endless supply of meat with little concern about casualties was their greatest strength.  Keep in mind Russia was still not modernized by the standards of the time.
