Does being very smart make it easier to live up to your potential or is that due to something else?

I think it depends on personal motivation, more than anything else.
I mean, we all have the potential to have "hard bodies" ... and most people are smart enough to know we are out-of-shape (even if we don't want to go full "hard body") ... but few of us have the motivation to put in the time and work required.

Same with education.  Few people have the motivation to learn other than what is required of them.
(Too many don't even have the motivation to do that.)

Drive?  Competing? I never competed in my life on purpose. Not my cuppa tea. But some have to  prove they are the best. Why I don't know. Thank you for your reply Walt! :)

No.  When you are surrounded by a sea of idiots, it just makes it harder.

Also, there are just too many variables to give being smart an advantage.  I would like to be smart versus stupid, but that does not mean that I have ANY advantage over someone who is less intelligent.

We have emotional bodies as well as mental.  We have physical bodies besides mental too. So our emotions and our physical health play a huge part.  Then there is just one's circumstances.  How important is a good brain if you are in a concentration camp in North Korea or sitting in the dirt in Ethiopia?

It helps and it is an advantage to a degree, being smart, but it is no guarantee of success or happiness any more than being a dummy This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at August 2, 2019 10:47 AM MDT
