When you're feeling down and out, what do you do?

I talk to God and I have a cookie and I am sure to thank GOD for the cookie.   It looks like a sarcastic answer, but deep down it does work.  I am able to relieve my anxiety about my feelings and just accept them calmly and be serene about it and watch it pass.  It's a blessing.

This is so much a goal for me, often, the approach you've shared (for me, with or without food - - but I'd be better off, in general, if I ate more.)

Sometimes ... like if I'm tanning ... I will stay there.

Or, I'll just get up and go in.

Most often, I listen to music if I can.

Two pieces in particular came to my mind --

"Neptune"  the last movement of Holst's "The Planets"

(It's so quiet that every video I found is still very soft. The entire movement. Ethereal. And that last minute with the far-off vocals. The movement makes me practically cry with beauty.

and "In Paridisum" - - the last movement of Gabriel Faure's "Requiem" - - OMG, literally

Self-loathing is what I do and I'm very good at it.

I hope you're OK, my friend.

And I mean this in the best of ways - - your answer made me immediately think of "Eeyore" - - as you know, my favorite character in that whole Pooh cast.
    :)

Eeyore seems to be my spirit animal or something. Not sure if that's a good thing.;-)

There's something about him that speaks to me, too. Ever since I was a young kid.

And I  like to play the piano sometimes Just for me (not for my job). In a big empty room.

Composer Robert Muczynski's piano compositions are my favorite to play, just for me. And when I have an opportunity, I'll play his music for others. These six preludes are the first pieces I played of his stuff. They remain a part of me. Muczynski has bettered my life immensely.

please -- anyone - - if you haven't heard his music before --  give a listen
