Would this count as a home-cooked meal?

I plan on making this recipe sometime soon. I had cut the recipe off the macaroni and cheese box and I still have the recipe. The picture seems appetizing to me in a fun sort of way. It's a pizza -- green peppers and Italian sausage bits added. Kraft Deluxe Macaroni and Cheese deluxe from the box (that's why I wondered if it counted as home-cooked since it's from a box, ha)
:)

    Home cooked certainly.

Cooked from scratch...no.  Of course for this you would have you make your own pizza dough as well.

Ha! I forgot to mention -- the recipe calls for pre-made refrigerated pizza dough from a tube! Ha!

Anything you cook it in your home counts a home cooked.  For instance, Mac & Cheese counts as homemade since one has to boil the water to cook the macaroni.

I would throw out the "cheese powder" and simply shred cheddar or mozarella cheese and top the pie.  By doing this you only need to buy the macaroni rather than spend the inflated cost of the processed crap....I mean, food.     If you really want cheese sauce, heat some cheese and milk and thicken with a little cornstarch or flour or melt American cheese on top.

I do know that people like boxed mac and cheese.  My girls begged me to buy it which I hated to do but when they were old enough to use the stove I would sometimes buy a box and let them "make dinner."  Oh my gosh, the creations they came up with!    So, enjoy your pizza. How the heck can you grate American cheese? It is soft.

My brain and fingers were not totally in sync.  ;)

My mother used to shred Velveeta when I was growing up (yuk).  She still loves that stuff.   This post was edited by Thriftymaid at August 6, 2019 6:31 PM MDT

As my mother said when asked if her (brown & serve) dinner rolls were homemade: "Well, I didn't buy them hot".

Yes, but not until they discovered fire. I'm sure you remember that.

That looks delish. I would grate some nice, sharp Asiago on it.

I'll let you know when I try it and you can come over, ha. I bought the ingredients tonight so it will be sometime very relatively soon.

("very relatively" -- an anachronism? Or whatever the hell that word is? Ha!)

Sandra Lee had a great show on FOOD NETWORK called Semi-Homemade.  This falls under that category.  And it is a great way to prepare meals.

She will take ingredients that are already prepared, like the Mac and Cheese (meaning the ingredients are in the package and you don't have to make it from scratch).  Then she adds home made or natural things like your peppers and ground beef and voila!  You have a nice, tasty meal that you can prepare quickly and easily.

So, your dish falls into that category.  ENJOY!

Now, about that "quickly and easily" part -- we're talking bout me here! Ha!

I, however, DO do desserts very well.
