How Do Whites Enjoy 'Privileged' Status Against "Protected Classes" of Persons?

This oughtta be good. :-)

  • Only if you have a "computer" brain. The real struggle in the future (now?) will be between the differing levels of intelligence and/or those with genetically engineered intelligence. Or those societies that allow DNA testing for intelligence. China used to throw females out in the trash. They'll start doing the same for "dumb" people soon.

  • You praise this, but read between the lines of this "ITpro". If YOU aren't smart enough to program and or set up a server then you should "not slow him down" (ie. you should go to your grave). Oh, wait, your Divine Invisible Hand would be fine with that. RIGHT?!?! Hope you know how to code buddy.

Ordinarily it wouldn't be a game.  Ordinarily (or hopefully) this would be a meaningful conversation where everyone would have the opportunity to learn from the more or less civil exchange of ides...

...But you chose to make it personal by way, in this case, of agreeing with the insinuation that I am a racist, and that's when it became a game.

If you want sincerity, you might try promptly ceasing any/all attempts to make ME the topic of conversation.  In recent days you've made inroads into civil discourse, and I've made every attempt to follow suit and to encourage your efforts.  I strongly urge you/plead with you to stay on that track.  Nothing good will come of this silly tit-for-tat, passive aggressive nonsense.

    1) In this case no.  My use of the word 'you' is in direct response to you.  I'm not initiating a change in the topic of conversation, IOW.  YOU are right to have asked, however. (BTW, I noticed you AVOIDED a point of agreement between the two of us.  Do you prefer contentiousness or discord?)

    2) Any 'slant' which one may imagine exists entirely in the head of the imaginer, and you 'play' almost every time you respond.

Thanks for playing again, RP. :-)

Oh, my!  The Bro-Man is getting testy!  I guess you MISSED my recognition of his snark.

And I work in IT, Bro.  I set up small business websites/networks for a living.  I'm half-assed at coding beyond that...ASSUMING such information was relevant to THIS discussion.

I also have no friggin' clue what you're talking about in reference to Divine Invisible Hands.  Are you talking about God?

China still does this.  There is no "used to."

Well, when you're done "playing", maybe we'll have a real talk.

I'm no longer certain you are capable.  You ignore points of agreement and go straight for the attack...and for reasons about which I can only speculate.  That suggests you lack the maturity to maintain civil discourse.

But I still like you, RP.  I genuinely like a lot of the people on here who feel the need to attack first and ask questions later. I guess I'm just a masochist that way. :-)

One thing I do know for certain, however: as long as ad hominem is the only tool in your polemical box, you will CONTINUE to get your butt handed to you, and not just by me.

It might if only you had cited some evidentially solid instance of your vague allegation ;-))

  • That's a subtle way to express racism. Note I'm not calling YOU a racist. That would not be nice.

Let me start by saying that I am a brown guy.  As a brown guy, another brown guy may be more likely to hire me for my service over a white guy, or to give me a good deal on something, or to let me in on information. Some brown people feel that brown people have to stick together because we are the minority. Some people of all races feel that whites are doing the same thing and that because there are more whites and they own most things and are in higher positions that this is a disadvantage. I'm sure there is some truth to it. But brown people and asian people have the highest incomes, the best education, the lowest crime rates, highest employment rates, better than white people. Whatever disadvantage there is by whites being more likely to help other whites is not enough to slow us down.

It's really depressing, honestly, how you ask this slanted question with that smirk that suggests you have no actual interest in the answer, other than to dismiss it out of hand or find some clever way to "debunk" it.

As for privilege, I don't really know. They say white people are privileged, but I don't feel particularly privileged, other than that I know I could be a lot worse off. I will say that I've never consistently applied myself at anything. Although at times I've worked very hard, at other times I've been very lazy. I've certainly made many terrible mistakes in life. Nevertheless, I've done all right, despite being somewhat aimless and unfocused. I understand that other people work very hard, but never manage to get out of poverty. But I really don't know. Maybe what you should do, if you're even actually interested in learning, is ask minority people directly, and listen to what they have to say, especially the ones who don't agree with your politics.

It's not really all that subtle.

I asked a question.  Citing "some evidentially solid instance" of an otherwise NON-EXISTENT allegation isn't required.

Thanks for dropping by, though! :-)

No, you didn't call me a racist.  You've only intimated as much (with no basis in fact/evidence whatsoever) on two separate posts.

You're to be forgiven, though, inasmuch as you are 'seemingly' completely clueless as to the meaning of the words you use. :-)

What slant, and what smirk?  Are you a mind reader.  Do you have a drone camera or something?  I ask controversial questions, RP.  If you see them as 'slanted,' that's YOUR problem.Best to deal with it now and avoid the rush.

As to your second paragraph (sans the unsolicited advice at the end), if you intended to suggest that individuals in minority groups have to work much harder/smarter to achieve the same ends as those in the majority, I would agree.

Gawd, but you're easy today, RP.  Tighten up, man! :-)

Elaborate on what you mean by I'm "easy". Is it nothing but a game to you? Is there no place left here for sincerity?

Would it help this discussion any, if I counted up all the uses of the word "you" directed at myself, in your last post?

Your questions are only controversial because they are slanted. If that's the game you prefer, have at it, but I'm not playing it with you.
