I think subconsciously his supporters have an awareness that a lot of things he says are untruths but consciously they think should swallow all of it.

I've heard some people experienced a 'revelation' (recovery)  on their deathbed and express their ire toward whatever source held sway over them all those years. Some 'wake up' on their own when they can begin to rationalize a bit of reality into their situation and likely become the person they were at one time. And some require a bit professional deprogramming.to recover. 
I don't think Trump's 'people' are really seriously brainwashed though; maybe just deeply convinced like when they hear 'God made Trump president', (Trump will) Make America Great Again etc. repeatedly. Google trump.news -Trump's own fact based news website. 

So there is some hope the wackadoodles become rational again? I would not hire any of them. They are too gullible and unthinking to trust not to fall under the spell again of the next charlatan. I think they should be branded on the forehead. "PRODON once upon a time". Well of course not really but I think it would be a just punishment for having gone so astray to support a person who sold out their country to a hostile foreign enemy.
