"Cristofori's Dream" by David Lanz, a song in honor of piano inventor Bartolomeo Cristofori, is my fave instrumental piece. What's your's?

Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco
(Italian pronunciation: [bartoloˈmɛːo kriˈstɔːfori di franˈtʃesko];
May 4, 1655 – January 27, 1731)

was an Italian maker of musical instruments famous for inventing the piano.

    I don't have one, I guess!
    :)
There are literally too many in my head to pick
     - - but I will answer with the first piece to come to my mind when I read your question. If you haven't heard this piece, I hope you get a chance to listen -- from very start to very finish, this is Pure Joy to my ears -- and sometimes it builds and sometimes it slopes downward, up and down, up and down, so very wonderfully. All in under four minutes.
    :)

"Waltz Number Two" by Dmitri Shostakovich

Still having a crazy schedule - - but I saw your question here :)   Be Well
    :)

EDIT #2 -- I will listen to your piece, too

EDIT #3 --- to all who may read this, and you Twinkle Dink Bixby's Dad - - I'm way behind on checking/responding on the 'alerts'/notifications/ replies and comments etc. - -   sorry- -  later

  • Eccellente, my friend.

Yes, indeed, it is difficult to pick just one.

Welby, I've always adored this piece. It's wondrous.  So much so, I chose to incorporate it into a youtube video I made several years back...

  • I LOVE THIS!! I‘m not sure what I was expecting, but I jumped out of my seat at the end lol. If this was posted on a larger social media platform, it could/would soooo go viral, brilliant.

Thank you so much! I am extremely happy that you enjoyed it. When I edited that, I chose to end it like that rather than going the "Full Monty" if you will.  It was up on YouTube before and had a good number of hits, but I lost it when my YouTube account was canceled for some reason. Silly YouTube.  LOL

  • You’re welcome, thank you for posting it.
Lol, your YouTube got suspended? SHOCKING. I wouldn’t say I think it’s brilliant,  if I didn’t think so. I love the way you ended the video. I honestly only expected to watch 30 seconds of it, but became completely invested in the video before the 30. I love the music choice too. It’s a very impressive short, IMHO.

    Hey, nice!

Thanks for that sharing Jonny Angel Goat (JAG)  :)

Again, without ever meeting, we're on the same page - - the changes of your using that music, music that we both adore. Fun!
    :)

I love Gershwin and Cole Porter.  They were both gay by the way.  Like you don't know this. LOL

    I KNOW I KNOW.

Next we will accuse them of being fashion designers and hairdressers.  And waiters. And drag queens.  So bizarre.

I actually did NOT know either of them were gay. Or, if I did know, I just didn't think about it . But that image of Gershwin in the video  -- hot!

I couldn't get it to upload.  It is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard - somewhat melancholy.  I first heard it played at the funeral of Grace Kelly and then they made it the these song for the movie Platoon.  Just close your eyes and give yourself over to it.

I will.  After your introduction, I cannot resist. Especially the Grace Kelley reference because it sounds very UNIQUE AND IMPORTANT.  Like Grace.  It starts out beautiful right away.  And I think it is the perfect piece for Grace's final goodbye.
