Do you like chopped liver literally and figuratively? It's chicken livers plus seasonings. Simple. What mystery meat do you eat?

Are you drawn to people who are MYSTERIOUS? The mysteriouser the betterer? Ever get to know a mystery homo sap who turned out to be anything but? Sometimes it is simple shyness that causes aloof detached unreachable. I was very brave on one occasion and reached out to a mystery woman. It was a revelation. Once I broke through the surface the person turned out to be even shyer than I was and we became fairly good friends. She was the Executive Secretary for the owner of the company. Circumstances brought us together at a group function where she sat alone looking inscrutable and haughty. I went over to her, sat down and started chatting. No was more surprised than me by my boldness. You know what I found out? Her birthday was the same as my son's and my birthday was the same as her daughter's. That's all we needed. Walls came down and a friendship grew. You never know what will happen when you try something new. Do you?

    Literally? Ick, blechh and yucko. The only mystery meat I'll come at is Fritz (baloney). Offal is pet food.

    Isn't HAGGIS a treat in Scotland? As for chopped liver the first time I ever tasted it was when a Jewish friend made it for us. At the time I was married to a Sephardic Jew. Now when I was a kid my mom made calf's liver for us so I didn't mind eating innards. I will tell you this at first taste of Audrey's homemade chopped liver I fell in love! I guess I'm a sap for a pate. Never met one I disliked. There is an Armenian dish called PATCHA. Because I don't want you to go "ick blechh and yucko" bucko I will divulge what it is! Thank you for your reply R. I also adore matzo ball soup half-sours and Rueben Sandwiches! Oh knishs too. Who doesn't like a knish?     Knowing what the dictionary describes it as I think I'd upchuck if I were forced to eat. Before the fact and after too. No disrespect to the Scottish people. What you grow up with is what you know. Thank you for your reply R! :)

    Given your Armenian heritage, there probably is a sizable helping of Hebe in there somewhere. Armenia had a biggish Jewish community prior to the takeover by the Soviet Union. Tolerated by the Muslim Turks, but the Russians have never accepted Jewish folks, even under the Tsars.

    Well my mom bought fresh calves' liver from an oriental market on her way home from work. She'd pan-fry it in butter and serve it with chopped onions, parsley and we'd add lemon juice. There were NO VEINS whatsoever in that liver. I'm not joking. My sister and I loved it it so much that each week she'd make a little more for us. She got up to fixing 2-1/2 lbs each week and then said she was done! She was sick and tired of fixing the liver for us! To this day my sis and I remind each other of that and laugh! Thank you for your reply m2c and Happy Tuesday for thee. I think if you didn't know what it was and tasted it you'd be surprised how awful it wasn't! :)

    I would have to like onions for that to work. No veins is probably cause it was a calf??? I do not know that just a guess. 

    The only thing liver is good for is fish bait.

    I think so m2c. She only ever bought calves' liver. I don't know what any other liver tastes like because I only ever ate what my mom prepared. You don't like onions then? Do they talk back to you or you just don't enjoy the flavor? We LOVE onions. On hotdogs with mustard especially. Or chopped up in potato salad or tuna salad or any salad. Caramelized onions are delicious over anything. And there was a restaurant whose name I forget that specialized in FRENCH ONION SOUP! Oh my gosh it was a meal in itself. A deep rich beefy broth loaded with onions served in an oven-proof broiler-proof ceramic bowl in which a large toasted chunk of Sourdough bread was placed over which loads of grated Parmesan cheese was sprinkled. Into the oven or under the boiler till the cheese melted. VOILA! T'was HEAVENLY! I've tried to make French Onion Soup and at best it's adequate/mediocre. Oh there was also a restaurant near where I worked that made a CAESAR SALAD TO DIE FOR! If you're a fan of Caesar Salad you'd have loved it. Gosh I wonder how old I'm gonna hafta be to stop rhapsodizing about food? Thank you for your reply m2c! :)

    I do not like the texture of a cooked onion....slimey things. I do not mind a slight onion flavor. I use onion powder for that. I make a veggie beef soup with onion soup mix. I sift the onion slivers out of the mix. No onions in potato salad etc. Too much onion flavor. When we go to family reunions there is one little bowl on potato salad with onions and 2 huge bowls without so could be in the genes.
